Substation Secure Data Hosting

In response to our customer's need for data in a more useful format and more quickly deployed, GridSense has created a web-based respository for utilty asset information.

System Overview
Devices such as TransformerIQ monitors and other utility IEDs are polled by the SubstationIQ server or the LineTracker DataPAC.  These servers connect with the secure site via VPN over cellular modem.  Data is transmitted at a programmable interval and email alerts and text messages are dispatched when any of the following occur:
  • A new alarm is received
  • A device comes online
  • A device goes offline

Streamlined and Simplied
  • $40/mo./2MB per substation monitoring
  • $20/mo. per hosted device
  • One time charge for modem setup
  • Cellular plan is included

Reliability
  • Redundant routers in a fail-over mode
  • Mirrored server hard drives for data integrity
  • Dedicated stand-by server in the event of a catastrophic failure of action server
  • Three methods of monitoring the operations center involve:
Security
By making a VPN connection the only possible entry to the database, the only security concern is the personnel chosen by the utility to have read-only access to substation data.  No entry via IP address is possible.
